Description
A painting about the Portuguese Caravel, on the Tall Ship Races in Lisbon, with the Bridge 25 de Abril and the Cristo Rei in the background. The Caravela Portuguesa was a small, but highly manoeuvrable sailing ship developed in the 15th century to explore the West African coast into the Atlantic Ocean.Caravels were used by the Portuguese and Castilians for the oceanic exploration voyages during the 15th and 16th centuries in the Age of Discovery.
The next Tall Ships Races will start in 2021 September in Lisbon, when all sea will be presented on the Tagus river including the most beautiful and largest ships in the world.
During some days, will be possible to see them inside and out, then the Tall Ships Race will set out from Lisbon for Spain, where it will call at two ports - Cádiz and A Coruña, and will end in Dunkirk in France.
