Description
A new watercolor dog painting about beloved Ty, and a beautifully written memoire, how Olivia remembers him.
Thank you dear Susan for your custom order to ask me to paint about Ty to your friend!
This is the Ty I remember. The puppy school class clown. The one who got expelled from “camp” (Camp Bow Wow) for humping the other dogs and getting upset when they got upset with him. The same one who loved sitting in the dog pool at “camp” and taking up all the space, so others couldn’t join in on his personal spa day. The one who was proud of himself for sticking his face in a cactus and making my dad have to remove all of the cactus spines from his face. The one who made friends with neighbors even if they weren’t looking for a new friend. The one who stood in line behind Dottie waiting for his turn while she drank out of HIS bowl. The one who loved pretending he didn’t have any manners when friends would come over because he just really wanted to jump on them. The one who let me dress him up as my dad for Halloween and wore sunglasses in the summer. The one who loved going to the vet’s office and the same one that LOVES his vet, Dr. Harrison... You know going in a dog doesn’t live forever, but you hope and pray they will. Ty had a long hard fight with mast cell cancer. He fought for as long as he could and rallied last week to remind us of the puppy he’s always been. There will never be another. Our discount puppy turned out to be a priceless gift we didn’t know we needed. I feel honored to have loved Ty and be loved by him. I’m glad we got the time we did and were able to share the unique bond of eye surgeries. Life is short, but love is always worth it in the end.
This isn’t goodbye. This is see you later. Rest well, steal all the people food, and wait for us. You were and will always be my buddy boy, puppy, bed bug, Ty Juan (Do), old man dog, roomie, and all the other nicknames I gave you. You got me through most of my adult life. Missing you is an understatement. There’s a hole in our hearts and an empty space in our house. I will ensure everyone knows your badass legacy. For now, I’ll see you later. -Olivia
