Description
The second part of a custom order, a watercolor painting about the Moinho do Oregaos from the coastal area near Cascais and Cabo da Roca. A traditional Portuguese windmill looking to the Atlantic Ocean. This charming mill got its name because lots of wild oreganos grow around it.
The usage of the wind power has a long tradition in Portugal, because of the strong winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean. So the windmills are the usual part of the scenery in Portugal. From the 11th century there are already records of the Portuguese traditional windmills, and even today we can visit some working, some transformed into houses, or restaurants, and touristic attractions.
Thank you dear Judith for your custom order, it was my pleasure to paint about your historic and rustic mill.
