Ocean View in Santa Cruz Portugal, original handmade watercolor painting by Dora Hathazi Mendes.
Bright flowers bloom along a lush, green cliff overlooking the Atlantic ocean at Santa Cruz in Portugal. Seagulls soar in the clear blue sky, adding to the tranquil coastal scene.
The original painting was inspired by my own photograph which I took on my daily walks, as we live in walking distance to this beautiful coastal town.
Santa Cruz is located in the Torres Vedras municipality, easy reach from Lisbon. A beautiful coastline with exceptional quality of water and white sand beaches.
Santa Cruz has an extended stretch of sand, which divided up and named to different beaches, such as Formosa, Santa Helena, Navio, Pisao, Mirante, Fisica, Centro and Azul, then follow even more beaches like Praia da Amanha, and Praia de Mexilhoeria.
At the main beach just facing the village a huge triangular shape of rock with an arch running under it, called Penedo do Guincho which is a natural attraction highlighted on landscape because of its dimensions and beauty.
Due to the strong waves, Santa Cruz is very popular with surfers, also offers various activities nearby, in clear weather conditions from the Miradouros view points you can see as far as the Berlengas islands and the Cabo Carvoeiro lighthouse. The beauty of Santa Cruz served as inspiration for several poets, for instance João de Barros, Antero de Quental, and Kazuo Dan.
