Moinho Dos Oregaos - Portuguese Windmill Painting
Artist
Dora Hathazi Mendes
Medium

Description
A new commissioned watercolor painting titled Moinho do Oregaos, about a typical Portuguese windmill from the area of Cabo da Roca and Cascais. This charming mill got its name because lots of wild oreganos grow around it.
The usage of the wind power has a long tradition in Portugal, because of the strong winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean. So the windmills are the usual part of the scenery. From the 11th century there are already records of the Portuguese traditional windmills, and even today we can visit some working, some transformed into houses, or restaurants, and touristic attractions.
Thank you dear Judith for your custom order, it was my pleasure to paint about your traditional and rustic mill.
