Artist's Description
A watercolor painting about the Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse in Peniche, Portugal. Peniche is around 30 km from the beaches of Sta Cruz where I live. Peniche and the sea are inseparable. It is one of the largest traditional fishing ports in Portugal and a major Atlantic hub for maritime-tourist activities.
The Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse is only one of the beautiful sight you can visit here, some of the must see places also the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Sanctuary, the São Pedro and Misericórdia Churches, the Peniche Fort. It is the most western cape of the Portuguese mainland coast north of Cabo da Roca. The west can sight up the small archipelago of Berlengas, part of a natural terrestrial and marine reserve.
The Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse is 25m high, and was built in 1790, with a current luminous range of 28 kilometres, due to the several shipwrecks that occurred at the stretch of this coastline. The Cape Carvoeiro is a cape that is located on the edge of Peniche Pe...
