A watercolor painting about the Belem Tower of Lisbon Portugal, in sunset. In Portuguese this charming tower called Torre de Belem. Lisbon's most famous landmark stands near the shore of the Tagus River as it reaches the Atlantic. Built in 1515, the Belem Tower once protected the city, is a beautiful fortress that also served as the departure point for many of the voyages of discovery, and due to its architecture and historical significance it has been declared a World Heritage Site. The highlight of a visit is the views from its loggias and windows, and the beautiful surroundings with the Rio Tejo.
